About Mrs. SimmonsThe 2016-2017 school year starts my 11th year teaching! It is hard to believe I have already spent a decade in the classroom! My first year I spent teaching a 7th grade introductory Spanish language and culture class at my old middle school in Alabama. After this I spent 7 years teaching 7th grade math at the same school. For the lat two years I have taught 8th grade math at Oakland Middle School. I am proud to be a member of the OMS community! Go Chargers!

My Story |
I was born and raised in Alabama. I even got my first teaching job at my old middle school, and was fortunate to get to work with some of my former teachers. I attended Harding University for college. After graduation, I spent 2 years in Italy teaching English using the Bible and doing mission work, and I speak Italian. My husband was living in the Middle Tennessee area when we got married, which is what brought me to Murfressboro, TN and Oakland Middle school.

My thoughts on Math... |
Math has always been my favorite subject, and I LOVE working with students to help them understand new mathematical concepts! It is always so rewarding to watch students have "light bulb" moments!
